Arrowsmith Program's – The Women Who Changed Her Brain

New Book Changes Perspectives on Learning Disabilities Read the forthcoming new book, “The Woman Who Changed Her Brain,” to be published by Simon and Schuster, and find out about one woman’s fascinating journey to unleash the seeming insurmountable learning obstacles she faced, leading to solutions for thousands stifled by learning disorders. “…When I was in my old school, I was having a hard time because I had trouble reading and writing. I was dyslexic, so I had trouble learning…”

Brain Power

The Arrowsmith Program “We know that the brain is pliable and elastic, not fixed as we used to believe. It can physically change in response to stimulus and develop new neuronal branches and synaptic connections. This means that the brains of children with certain learning disabilities can be strengthened to the point of average or even above-average functionality.” Barbara Arrowsmith Young, Founder, The Arrowsmith Program

The Arrowsmith Program for Learning Disabled: New Book, “Brain School,” Celebrates A Winning System

Arrowsmith Program, the identifying title behind the compelling course for those with learning difficulties, has caused a sensation in the broad educational spectrum, sending powerful ripples even in the yeshiva world, where widely recognized Torah institutes, such as Toras Emes Academy of Miami, The Jewish Educational Center in Elizabeth and Yeshiva Degel HaTorah of Spring Valley, as well as the Brooklyn-based Bais Yaakov of Boro Park and Yeshiva Tiferes Yisroel (Chofetz Chaim) - whose parents were actually reimbursed by New York City for out-of-the-pocket expenses - have set the multi-faceted stage for others in the Jewish school system. In an effort to include an acclaimed program for the learning disabled in their own curriculums as well, Eitz Chaim Schools of Toronto, Yeshiva B’nai Zion (Bobov) of Toronto, Beis Chaya Mushka of Brooklyn and Yeshiva Tiferes Torah in Lakewood have followed the example that, based upon performance, simply could not to be ignored. Known as the Arrowsmith Program, this syllabus differs dramatically from other remedial programs, relying on no support system other than the power of “brain plasticity.” Addressing, first, a child’s individual weakness(es), the Arrowsmith Program aims to fortify and thereafter restructure the brain’s genuine in-born abilities, presenting an unadulterated panorama of breathtaking learning opportunities and potential, the likes of which have never before been realized.

A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Arrowsmith and its Classrooms: Exclusive Invitation for Educators to Discover the Solution to Learning Problems

She is the girl who seems forever doomed to sit in the back of the classroom, repeatedly asking questions about simple subject matter. She is the student who cannot do the required work, let alone comprehend it. Lost in a frightening, dark world of confusion and bewilderment, she lacks the power of confidence and self-esteem. Silently, she begs to be given the golden opportunity to genuinely learn and advance just like her peers… If you are a parent or educator of a child with learning disabilities, you surely recognize all the pain and frustration that are the unfortunate byproducts of Auditory Processing difficulties, Dyslexia, Executive Function difficulties, Dysgraphia, Auditory Memory problems, and Attention Deficiencies. Created in the 1970s by Barbara Arrowsmith Young, the innovative Arrowsmith Program has progressively developed over the past three decades to become a wonderful breakthrough for the learning disabled, enabling them to embark on life’s journey of learning as never before possible. On the mornings of Wednesday, March 2, at Bais Yaakov of Boro Park, and on Friday, March 25, at the Jewish Educational Center in Elizabeth, New Jersey, principals from a wide-range of yeshivos and girls’ schools are invited to attend informative sessions. Following the sessions, those in attendance will be able to visit an Arrowsmith classroom in session and witness the power of its cognitive exercises: the golden opportunity to help that girl in the back of the classroom and those like her, lost in the frightening, dark world of learning confusion and bewilderment.

The Arrowsmith Program for the Learning Disabled – Now Distinguishably Acknowledged by a New Book, 'Brain School'

Fish need water to live. Gravity pulls objects to the earth. Civilization requires law and order. There is no doubt that certain concepts in this world remain rock-solid fact, defying transformation or modification. Nonetheless, ‘change’ - that wonderful ability to become different or make something or somebody different, is the Almighty’s precious gift, bestowed upon Man for the purpose of improving himself and his surroundings.
